Haven ("Haven," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our mobile application, website at haven.dating, and all related services (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the practices described in this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide to Us

We collect information that you voluntarily provide when you register for an account, create or modify your profile, use features of the Service, or communicate with us. This includes:

  • Account Information: Name, email address, date of birth, phone number, and authentication credentials (via Apple Sign In, Google Sign In, or email).
  • Profile Information: Photos, bio, gender identity, pronouns, sexual orientation, relationship preferences, height, job title, school, lifestyle preferences, interests, and personality prompts.
  • Communications: Messages you send to other users through the Service, including text, photos, and media.
  • Payment Information: When you make purchases through the App Store, payment processing is handled by Apple. We do not directly collect or store your credit card or payment card information.
  • Support Communications: Information you provide when you contact our support team, including emails and feedback.

2.2 Information We Collect Automatically

When you use the Service, we automatically collect certain information, including:

  • Location Data: With your permission, we collect your precise geolocation data from your mobile device to provide location-based features such as showing nearby users and calculating distances. You can disable location services through your device settings, but this may limit certain features of the Service.
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, browser type, language preferences, and mobile network information.
  • Usage Data: Information about how you use the Service, including features accessed, profiles viewed, swipe patterns, match interactions, time spent on the app, and crash reports.
  • Log Data: IP address, access times, pages viewed, and the page you visited before navigating to our Service.

2.3 Information from Third-Party Services

We may receive information from third-party services that you connect to Haven:

  • Apple Music: If you connect your Apple Music account, we may access your currently playing track, top artists, and recently played songs to display on your profile. We do not access your full music library or listening history beyond what is displayed.
  • Authentication Providers: If you sign in using Apple, Google, or other providers, we receive your basic profile information (name, email) as permitted by the provider and your authorization settings.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide the Service: Create and manage your account, display your profile to other users, facilitate matches and messaging, and deliver location-based features.
  • Personalize Your Experience: Show relevant profiles, provide compatibility insights, and customize content and recommendations based on your preferences and activity.
  • Communicate with You: Send you service-related notifications, updates, security alerts, and support messages. We may also send promotional communications, which you can opt out of at any time.
  • Process Payments: Manage subscriptions and in-app purchases through the App Store's payment infrastructure.
  • Ensure Safety and Security: Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, and other harmful activity. This includes content moderation, enforcing our Terms of Service, and protecting the rights and safety of our users.
  • Improve the Service: Analyze usage patterns, conduct research, test new features, and improve the overall functionality and user experience of the Service.
  • Legal Compliance: Comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, and governmental requests.

4. How We Share Your Information

4.1 With Other Users

Your profile information (including photos, bio, age, and other details you choose to share) is visible to other users of the Service. Your precise location is never shared; only approximate distance is displayed. Messages you send are visible to the recipients.

4.2 With Service Providers

We share information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, including:

  • Cloud Infrastructure: Google Firebase for hosting, database, authentication, storage, and cloud functions.
  • Analytics: Analytics providers to help us understand usage patterns and improve the Service.
  • Content Moderation: Services that help us detect and prevent inappropriate content.
  • Customer Support: Tools that help us respond to your inquiries and provide support.

These service providers are contractually obligated to use your information only for the purposes of providing services to us and in compliance with this Privacy Policy.

4.3 For Legal Purposes

We may disclose your information if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to:

  • Comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request;
  • Enforce our Terms of Service or other agreements;

4.4 Business Transfers

If Haven is involved in a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, dissolution, reorganization, sale of some or all of our assets, or similar transaction, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in applicable privacy practices.

4.5 What We Do NOT Do

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not share your precise location with other users. We do not share your private messages with anyone other than the intended recipients, except as required by law.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, regulatory, or legitimate business purposes (e.g., resolving disputes, enforcing our agreements, or complying with legal obligations).

Messages between users may be retained on the recipient's account even after you delete your account. Aggregated and anonymized data that does not identify you may be retained indefinitely.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest;
  • Secure authentication mechanisms (including Apple Sign In);
  • Regular security assessments and penetration testing;
  • Access controls limiting employee access to personal data;
  • Firestore security rules that restrict data access;
  • Firebase Storage security rules for uploaded media.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access and Correction

You can access and update most of your personal information directly through the app's profile settings. If you need assistance, contact us at support@haven.dating.

7.2 Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time through the app settings or by contacting us. Upon deletion, your profile will be removed and your personal data will be deleted in accordance with our retention policy.

7.3 Location Data

You can control location access through your device settings. Disabling location services will limit the Service's ability to show you nearby users and calculate distances.

7.4 Push Notifications

You can opt out of push notifications through your device settings. You can also manage notification preferences within the Haven app.

7.5 Marketing Communications

You can opt out of promotional emails by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any promotional email or by adjusting your communication preferences in the app.

7.6 Apple Music Data

You can disconnect your Apple Music account at any time through the Haven app settings. Upon disconnection, your music data will be removed from your profile.

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to Know: You have the right to request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the purposes for which we use it, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
  • Right to Delete: You have the right to request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell personal information. If this changes, we will provide you with the right to opt out.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.

9. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. 11. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States, where our servers and service providers are located.
